The Sons of God

In the vision I saw a scroll…

As I woke up this morning I had a God thought waiting for me. The Holy Spirit was there speaking to me about the topic of “legal authority”. At first it came as just those two words, “legal authority”, but the topic was clear as a bell and it was clear that it was the Spirit speaking. And me, not knowing what this meant, asked the Lord to show me what this was about.

Immediately I saw a scroll rolled up and tied with a thread. I understood the scroll to be a legal document. Because it was a legal document, whatever the document declared was enforceable by power and it declared that a final judgment regarding some matter had been rendered.

I also understood that whoever and whatever issues were being addressed by the document was entirely binding on all parties involved. I knew that the document I saw was not just a piece of paper, but rather a legal decree issued by God and referenced things pertaining to the supernatural realm. The decree meant an issue was finished, forever, by the decree of God.

The Effect Is Simply A Reflection Of The Cause

Let me digress for a moment to a theme the Holy Spirit has been teaching me. I have been being taught that EVERYTHING in life is spirit and all life flows out of the realm of spirit. This is why it is so important for us to be aware of the spiritual realm that: a). The spirit dimension does indeed exist, and b). What spirits we traffic with, or whose influence we believe, means everything to us, and c). Why it is so vital for us to be redeemed out from under the influence of dark spirits and redeemed to the influence of the Holy Spirit of God.

What we see and experience in our lives is simply the effect of what is going on behind the scenes in the same way that what we see on a movie screen is the product of what has and is happening behind the scenes with the scriptwriters, the director, the producer, and the host of other behind the scenes activities. The invisible, behind the scenes activity, are the real cause of what is projected onto the silver screen. Shakespeare’s statement may be more correct that even he imagined when he said, “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players.”

Our lives are like a dynamic living movie and the visible “on screen” product we daily see and experience is simply the acting out of invisible influences behind the scenes. The visible realm is the life we are living while the invisible realm is the realm of spirit. The realm of spirit is where the power of influence upon our lives stems from and we act and create in life according to the spirits with which we traffic and whose influence we come under.

This is the purpose surrounding the appearance of Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God and Savior of the world: “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and FROM THE POWER (influence, mastery) OF SATAN UNTO GOD…”, (Acts 26:18) This is why one of the primary messages of God to man is “repent (turn and receive new thoughts into your mind), for the kingdom of God has drawn near to you.”

It Was A Pleasant Drive

I was driving the other day and worshipping the Lord when the Holy Spirit spoke. He said, “If you change the spirit of a thing you will change the results of a thing. If you change the spirit of a man, you can transform his life forever.” This blew me away because I suddenly realized just how true it is. I have seen lives transformed and circumstances altered because of the entrance of the Spirit of God into a situation.

Out of Egypt, God delivered the people of Israel by means of mighy signs and wonders. Moses led them through the wilderness to the land God promised their fathers and they could have gone in and taken it. Instead they were intimidated by the potential difficulties they might face as they went in to posses the promises of God.

Instead of moving excitedly ahead, believing that the same power of the same God who delivered them from Egypt would continue to reveal Himself to them in this challenge also, they allowed the magnitude of the challenge to loom greater than the unlimited power and magnitude of God. They all complained and blamed God and Moses for their predicament, except for two outstanding men who believed God was greater than any challenge they faced or could ever face:

“And all the congregation lifted up their voice and cried; and the people wept that night. And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said to them, ‘Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or would God we had died in this wilderness! And for what reason has the LORD brought us to this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? Would it not be better for us to return into Egypt?’ And they said to one another, ‘Let us make a leader who will lead us back to Egypt.’…And Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of those who had searched out the land tore their clothes: And they spoke to all the company of the children of Israel saying, ‘The land which we passed through to search is an exceeding good land. IF THE LORD DELIGHT IN US, THEN HE WILL BRING US INTO THIS LAND AND GIVE IT TO US; a land that flows with milk and honey. Only do no rebel against (depart from believing) the LORD, neither fear the people of the land; FOR THEY ARE BREAD (nourishing strength) FOR US: THEIR DEFENCE (ability to stand against us) IS DEPARTED FROM THEM, AND THE LORD IS WITH US: FEAR THEM NOT. But all the congregation bade stone them with stones…”, (Numbers 14:1-10).

As a result of this incident, the people did not enter into the promised land and life God desired to give them. Their unbelief in the favor and mighty power of God to fight for them caused that entire generation to wander around in the wilderness until every last one of them were dead. That is quite a penalty to pay for not believing in God’s favor and power toward us. The only two who lived through the 40 years in the wilderness were Joshua and Caleb. But more importantly, listen to what God had to say about this incident:

“But as truly as I live, all the earth will be filled with the glory of the LORD. Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness and have provoked Me now these ten times, AND HAVE NOT LISTENED TO MY VOICE, surely they will not see the land which I swore to their fathers, neither will any of them that provoked Me (through unbelief) see it: But my servant Caleb, BECAUSE HE HAD ANOTHER SPIRIT WITH HIM, AND FOLLWED ME FULLY…”, (Numbers 14:21-24).

You see, they ALL saw the miracles of God in Egypt, and they ALL saw the miracles of God in the wilderness. But with the exception of Joshua and Caleb they ALL disbelieved in the continuing care of God to provide anything and everything they would ever need as they faced a new challenge in life. Their hearts resorted to the comfortable surroundings of Egypt, even though they were abused slaves when they were there. AND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PEOPLE AND JOSHUA AND CALEB WAS IN THE SPIRIT THEY WERE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF and therefore they died, having never seen the power of God acting on their behalf in the fullness of the promise.

It’s Never About The Size Of The Challenge

There is something the children (descendents) of Israel didn’t understand that Joshua, Caleb and others throughout history did understand. IT’S NEVER ABOUT THE SIZE OF THE CHALLENGE, BUT IT’S ALL ABOUT: a). THE SIZE OF YOUR GOD AND, b). WHAT YOU BELIEVE REGARDING HIS FAVOR TOWARD YOU. There appeared to be a misconception among the vast majority of the Israelites regarding the heart of God toward them and His power.

If you study the Israelites journey through the wilderness, it is a picture of constant complaint against God and Moses regarding the varying circumstances they faced. They had forgotten the plagues of God’s judgment against the Egyptians because Pharaoh would not consent to the command of God to let His people go. They had forgotten how God parted the Red Sea and allowed their entire nation to pass over on dry ground while the Egyptians attempting to do so saw the wall of water on each side of them collapse upon them and they were drowned. They had forgotten when they were thirsty how God provided a river of water for them out of the Rock and how this same Rock followed them around, giving water whenever they thirsted. They had forgotten when they were hungry how God sent them a daily provision of bread that fell every single night out of heaven.

This is a people that did not learn the lessons of the wilderness, that every time they faced a need or a challenge, God provided them a miraculous solution out of heaven as they turned to Him:

“And when we cried unto the LORD God (the all powerful, all sufficient One) of our fathers, the LORD heard our voice and looked on our affliction, and our labor, and our oppression: And the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt WITH A MIGHTY HAND AND WITH AN OUTSTRETCHED ARM, AND WITH GREAT TERRIBLENESS, AND WITH SIGNS, AND WITH WONDERS…”, (Deuteronomy 26:7-8).

“Because all those men which have seen My glory, and My miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted (tried and tested) Me now these ten times, and have not listened to my voice; Surely they will not see the land which I swore to their fathers…”, (Numbers 14:22-23).

It’s So Good It Bears Repeating

IT’S NEVER ABOUT THE SIZE OF THE CHALLENGE, BUT IT’S ALL ABOUT: a). THE SIZE OF YOUR GOD AND, b). WHAT YOU BELIEVE REGARDING HIS FAVOR TOWARD YOU. These were the offspring of the man, Abraham. What was different about Abraham their father (and the father of all who know a successful relationship with God) and them? There were two very important things:

1. ABRAHAM KNEW THE SIZE OF HIS GOD. He knew the One speaking to him was the GOD (Creator, Ruler, Power) of ALL THINGS. Abraham understood the voice speaking to him was absolute in supremacy. This voice was the voice of He who the heavens themselves were unable to contain. There is no god before Him, and there is no god after Him. He was and is God alone.

a. “But will God indeed dwell on earth? BEHOLD THE HEAVEN AND THE HEAVEN OF HEAVENS CANNOT CONTAIN YOU; how much less this house that I have built?”, (1st Kings 8:27).

b. “The LORD is high above all nations, and His glory is even far above the heavens. Who is like unto the LORD our God who dwells on high, Who even has to humble Himself just to look at the things that are in heaven, and the things that are in the earth!”, (Psalm 113:4-5).

c. “You, even You are LORD alone; You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens with all their host, the earth and all things that are in it, the seas and all things that are in them, and You preserve them all; and the host of heaven worships You. You are the LORD, the God who did choose Abram, and brought him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gave him the name of Abraham; And found his heart to be faithful before You, and made a covenant with him…”, (Nehemiah 9:6-8, but you should read the whole chapter).

2. ABRAHAM BELIEVED IN GOD’S FAVOR TOWARD HIM. He had confidence in the status of relationship God had divinely selected him to enjoy. The status of relationship the GOD OF EVERYTHING had conferred upon Abraham was unique beyond all men previously existent upon our planet. As Nehemiah pointed out, “You are the LORD, the God WHO DID CHOOSE ABRAM…”, (Nehemiah 9:7). This is a great mystery of God in the universe. In truth, Abraham did not select God, but out of some mysterious and hidden reasoning of God, He chose the man Abram out of all others upon the earth and called him. Abram heard the voice of the LORD speaking to him and responded to that voice, thus changing his own life experience and the course of world history as well. But at the root of the calling of God to Abraham was the establishment of a unique and confident type of relationship, which we witness as being at the heart God and Abraham’s interactions. The unique relationship conferred upon Abraham by God was that of being God’s FRIEND.

a. “And the scripture was fulfilled which said, ‘Abraham BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS IMPUTED TO HIM FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS: and he was called the FRIEND OF GOD”, (James 2:23).

b. “Are You not our God, Who did drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and gave it to the seed of Abraham YOUR FRIEND for ever?”, (2nd Chronicles 20:7).

c. “But you, Israel, are my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, THE SEED OF ABRAHAM MY FRIEND”, (Isaiah 41:8).

These qualities of Abraham were lacking in those who wandered 40 years in the wilderness and died having never seen God’s power in fulfilling His promise. A new generation was created who also had the spirit of Joshua and Caleb. This was a generation who believed in both the limitless power of the Almighty God as well as His unfailing love toward them to be seen in His glorious power revealed in fulfilling His promise to them. They went in with a NEW SPIRIT and received a NEW RESULT.

The Spirit Of Jesus

Jesus came to us as a man under the pure influence of the Spirit of God. Where the Spirit of God is, the results are always predictable. With this in mind we should understand that there was NOTHING UNUSUAL about the things Jesus did. This is because the remarkable things Jesus did were simply the RESULTS of a man who was purely under the influence of the Holy Spirit. Jesus told us what we should expect as our own lives come under the same influence of the same Holy Spirit of God:

“Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you. He that believes on Me, these works that I do WILL HE ALSO DO, AND GREATER WORKS THAN THESE WILL HE DO because I go to my Father”, (John 14:12).

Healing the blind as Jesus did is considered normal activity where the Spirit of Jesus is operative. This also would mean healing the lame would be normal activity to the Spirit of Jesus. Miraculous provision is also normal activity to the Spirit of Jesus. Cleansing lepers is normal activity to the Spirit of Jesus. Turning water to wine to help someone save face at a wedding party is normal activity for the Spirit of Jesus. Bringing folks back from the dead is normal activity for the Spirit of Jesus.

The point is, there is really nothing unusual about the life of Jesus when we consider the source of influence He chose to subject Himself under. Why did the John the Baptist see the Spirit of God descend on Jesus at His baptism and remain there? It is because the Spirit found a place of compatibility as in a vessel that was non-rejecting.

The acts of Jesus, the Son of God, hungering to be about His Fathers business is the effect of the cause, which is the SPIRIT OF GOD entirely influencing the life of a man. THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL WORK WITHIN A VESSEL UP TO THE POINT OF RESISTANCE, which just so happens to also be the point where our mind can no longer accept/believe what He wants to do next.

Here Comes The Judge

The Holy Spirit showed me that within the invisible courts of the universe a final judgment has been rendered regarding certain topics. When God issues a final judgment it is in force and cannot be reversed. This is the power of God in the universe and rest assured, a final judgment from God stands forever, impenetrable, irrevocable and unable to be undermined nor challenged by anything in heaven or earth.

However, in a man or woman’s personal experience, a decree of God regarding a blessing to them can be nullified within an individual by their refusal to accept/believe the decree. Our refusal to accept/believe the decree in no way nullifies the decree itself as issued from the SUPREME JUDGMENT SEAT of the universe. The decree still stands as declared, but to not accept the decree is exactly like telling God that He can keep the decree because you don’t want any part of it.

Remember the song, “Take this job and shove it!” There is no difference between the spirit of that song and the decrees of God regarding a matter on our behalf if we deny the decree. Our disbelief in His power to fulfill the decree and His total commitment in love to do the very thing He has promised to do for us is an exact match with the spirit in Israel when they refused to enter the Promised Land. It’s like saying, “God, let me tell you what you can do with your decree, because I don't believe in either Your commitment to me in Your expression of love or in Your power to do this thing!”

“But with whom was He grieved for forty years? Was it not with them that sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness? And to whom swore He that they should not enter in to His rest, BUT TO THEM THAT BELIEVED NOT? SO WE SEE THAT THEY COULD NOT ENTER IN BECAUSE OF UNBELIEF”, (Hebrews 3:16-19).

What About Legal Authority?

So about a week ago, the Holy Spirit started to speak to me about the wonder of being spiritually reborn and becoming a literal “son of God”. I have been wondering and praying about this since then and it is related to our topic of LEGAL AUTHORITY. The gospel of John tells us, “As many as received Him (Jesus), to them gave He the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His (Jesus) name”, (John 1:12). What is interesting here is that the word “power” is the Greek word ‘exousia’ which literally means: The freedom to act, in an unrestricted sense.

This idea both intrigues me and frightens me. If by believing in Jesus and what He represents by the sacrifice and shedding of His blood and by His death, resurrection from the dead and ascension into heaven, I am spiritually reborn and I become a genetically linked representation of God in the earth, this brings with it huge implications. As a genetic representation of God in the earth (a son) and as a literal member of the divine family, what rights and responsibilities go along with that? Are they supernaturally LEGAL RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES? What is this freedom to act in an unrestricted sense? What is it the Father has decreed upon me?

It’s A Family Business

When Jesus was twelve years old He disappeared one day. Joseph and Mary realized they hadn’t seen Him for an entire day as they were traveling home from Jerusalem after one of the Jewish feasts. Frantically they began searching for Him among their relatives and He wasn’t found. They retraced their steps all the way back to Jerusalem and no one had seen Him anywhere.

Think about it, they had been charged with the care and upbringing of the Son of God. They had lost him for three full days. Finally, after those three days of desperate searching, they found Him in the temple with all of the highest religious scholars of the land where Jesus had been quizzing them on what they believed they knew about His true Father, the God of all things.

“And it came to pass that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them and asking them questions. AND ALL THAT HEARD HIM WERE ASTONISHED AT HIS UNDERSTANDING AND ANSWERS. And when they (mom & dad) saw Him they were amazed and His mother said to Him, ‘Son, why have you dealt with us this way? Look, how your father and I have sought for you sorrowing.’ And He (Jesus) said to them, ‘How is it that you sought Me? Didn’t you know that I must be about MY FATHERS BUSINESS?’ And they did not understand what He was speaking to them”, (Luke 2:45-49).

You see, heaven has some business here in earth and Jesus was just trying to conduct a little of the family business. Maybe He was just trying to figure out the weakness of the competition, I don’t know. But the “family” grows every time someone believes in Jesus and new members are born to work alongside Jesus bearing the glory and the image of God in the earth:

“For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of Whom THE WHOLE FAMILY in heaven and in earth are named…”, (Ephesians 3:14-15).

“Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called THE SONS OF GOD…”, (1st John3:1).

“Let there be the fullness of grace upon you and the fullness of peace upon you from GOD OUR FATHER, and from our Lord Jesus Christ”, (Ephesians 1:2).

“The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are THE CHILDREN OF GOD, and if children then heirs, HEIRS OF GOD AND JOINT HEIRS WITH CHRIST…”, (Romans 8:16-17).

“For it became Him, for Whom are all things and by Whom are all things, IN BRINGING MANY SONS TO GLORY, to make the Captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both HE THAT SETS THEM APART FOR THEIR DEDICATED MISSION AND THEY WHO ARE SET APART FOR THEIR DEDICATED MISSION ARE ALL OF ONE, for which cause He is NOT ASHAMED TO CALL THEM BRETHREN…”, (Hebrews 2:10-11).

“And we know that ALL THINGS work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the ones who are called according to His supreme purpose. For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to (molded according to a pattern) the image of His Son, that He (Jesus) might be THE FIRSTBORN AMONG MANY BRETHREN”, (Romans 8:28-29).

It’s O.K., It’s All Legal Now

There is a lot of strange stuff here that frankly I don’t completely understand and that’s because what I think I’m seeing scares me, so I’m taking just a little glimpse at a time and then trying to process it. It scares me because what I think I am seeing is awesome in its power, which means it has to be understood right, and taught right or people can and will get hurt, but there is an awesome power here nonetheless.

Sometimes the things of God are like handling powerful explosives. The same power that can bring an incredible benefit when handled correctly can also bring incredible destruction if handled improperly. We see this often in history and often in movements of the Holy Ghost.

King David experienced this very thing when he was trying to restore the Ark of the Covenant to the life of God’s people. During the time of the Old Covenant, God established a place of meeting with His people where He would speak directly with them. That meeting place was between the cherubim that stood on top of the Ark of the Covenant that God had told Moses to make.

“And the cherubims will stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces will look one to another; toward the mercy seat will the faces of the cherubims be. And you will put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark you will put the testimony that I will give you, AND THERE WILL I MEET WITH YOU, AND COMMUNE WITH YOU from above the mercy seat, from between the cherubims, which are upon the ark of the testimony…(Exodus 25:19-22).

But as King David was trying to bring the Ark to a resting place so he and the people could meet and speak with God, a tragedy happened. They had put the Ark of God on a cart to transport it and Uzzah was one of the drivers. As they reached a certain threshing floor (a place of harvest) one of the oxen stumbled and the Ark of God began to bounce around on the cart. A well meaning Uzzah turned around to steady the Ark of God and as he touched the Ark, power went out from it and it killed him.

“Again, David gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand. And David arose and went with all the people that were with him from Baale of Judah to bring up the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the LORD of hosts that dwells between the cherubims. And they set the ark of God upon a new cart and brought it out of the house of Abinidab…and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the new cart…And David and all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments made of wood, even on harps and on psalteries and on timbrels and on cornets and on cymbals. And when they came to the threshing floor of Nichon’s, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it (stumbled). And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and he died by the ark of God”, (2nd Samuel 6:1-7).

David later discovered why this happened. It was because they had mishandled the Ark of God, which represents the unveiled power and glory of God. This is a powerful illustration of revivals in the church and often visitations of God in our own lives. We begin with an awesome flourish and excitement, then through a lack of understanding of the power that has been unleashed, frightening things happen to us and the visitation is abandoned. If we don’t figure out what happened like David did, we settle back into a mediocre existence, sometimes never recovering.

“So David brought not the ark of God home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom, the Gittite”, (1st Chronicles 13:13).

The visitation of God was interrupted.

What Is The Family Business?

The family business is in the hands of Jesus. When Jesus ascended to the Father (His Father and our Father), the Father was so pleased with how He handled everything, THE FATHER TURNED THE ENTIRE MANAGEMENT OF THE POWER AND GLORY OF ALL THE TREASURE OF ALL THAT EXISTS IN HEAVEN AND EARTH OVER TO HIS FIRSTBORN SON, JESUS CHRIST.

“And Jesus came and spoke to them saying, “ALL POWER HAS BEEN GIVEN TO ME IN HEAVEN AND IN EARTH. Because of this, you go and teach ALL OF THE NATIONS, baptizing them in the name of (representing the authority/power of) the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”, (Matthew 28:19).

“And He (Jesus) said to them, ‘You go into all the world, and proclaim this good news to all of creation and every creature within it. Those people that believe and are baptized unto me will be saved; but those people that refuse to believe have assigned themselves (have passed sentence upon themselves) to be separated from all of heavens glories. AND THESE SIGNS WILL FOLLOW THOSE THAT DO BELIEVE; IN MY NAME (representing the authority/power of) THEY WILL CAST OUT DEVILS; THEY WILL SPEAK WITH NEW TONGUES; THEY WILL TAKE UP SERPENTS; AND IF THEY DRINK ANY DEADLY THING, IT WILL NOT HARM THEM; THEY WILL LAY HANDS ON THE SICK, AND THEY WILL RECOVER.’ So then after the Lord (the administrator of all power in heaven and in earth) had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. AND THEY WENT FORTH EVERYWHERE, THE LORD WORKING RIGHT ALONG SIDE OF THEM, AND CONFIRMING THE THINGS THEY SPOKE WITH SIGNS FOLLOWING”, (Mark 16:15-20).

As many as receive Jesus are given by virtue of their spiritual rebirth the honor of walking the earth as the sons of God. As sons we represent the Father (the supreme power higher than the heavens themselves Who fills all things), the Son (to Whom is granted the supreme management of all that is of the Father – everything of the heavens flows out from Jesus), and the Holy Spirit (Who is the very life force of the Father and the Son).

The family business is fully revealed in the life of Jesus, the only begotten Son of the Father. As spiritually birthed sons of God we emulate the life of Jesus here on earth. In other words, by legal decree, the Father has authorized us to act out as sons and daughters of God.

It’s A Simple Business Really

The exercise of this legal authority is pretty simple when you break it down and Jesus held nothing back when showing us what to do:

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: Who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him”, (Acts 10:38)

By the Father’s legal decree, those who believe on His Son Jesus are eternally judged to be the children (sons and daughters) of God and part of the whole family of the supernatural dimension of heaven. As such we have the legal authority to act in this world as personal representatives in the family business wherever it is that we find ourselves.

The sons of God are authorized legally:

1. To receive a NEW SPIRIT into their lives which is the very Spirit of God in a full saturation of our being. Receiving the NEW SPIRIT guarantees NEW RESULTS in our lives as we yield to His influence. The power of the NEW LIFE is all about the Holy Spirit.

a. “And behold I send the promise of My Father upon you: but tarry…until you are endued (clothed upon, saturated, fully immersed and baptized) with power from on high”, (Luke 24:49).

b. “If a son will ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a rock instead? Or if he will ask you for a fish, will you give him a snake to eat instead of a fish? Or if he will ask you for an egg, will you offer him a scorpion? If you then being evil (earthly), KNOW HOW TO GIVE GOOD GIFTS to your children: HOW MUCH MORE WILL YOU HEAVENLY FATHER GIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT TO THEM THAT ASK HIM?”, (Luke 11:11-13).

c. “For as many as are led (under the influence of) the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God”, (Romans 8:14).

2. To go about DOING GOOD. Just as Jesus went about doing good we also are authorized to go about doing good. Wherever we find the need for helping people and the need for good, we are authorized as sons of God to bring forth the power of heaven into the needs of a suffering human situation. In the life of Jesus this included such things as turning water into wine, healing the sick, feeding the hungry, raising the dead and other matters pertaining to human sufferings. Whatever good we see Jesus doing as He brought forth the glory of heaven into earth, we also are authorized to do by the leadings of the Holy Spirit.

a. “And as you go preach (proclaim to everyone) saying, ‘THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT HAND (right here right now).’ Heal the sick, cleans the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: you have received all of this freely and abundantly, so freely give it all away to others”, (Matthew 10:7-8).

b. “He (Jesus) found the place where it is written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has anointed me to proclaim incredible (saving) news to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim deliverance to captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are bruised (being crushed), to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord”, (Luke 4:18-19).

c. “The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy. I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly”, (John 10:10)

3. To DESTROY DEMONIC OPRESSION. As sons of God in the earth, we are authorized to destroy demonic oppression wherever we discover it. Where evil, wrong spirits are active upon people’s lives and influencing them, hurtful actions and activities are the result. The Father loves all of His creation and particularly mankind who is the high point of all that He has made. Evil spirits have a hatred for mankind with a loathing beyond anything we could ever possibly imagine. Nothing delights them more that to torment the spirits, souls and bodies of men. The appearance of man on the earth is their worst nightmare because it signals their ultimate demise and therefore man is the primary focus of their destructive hatred. Sons of God are the representatives of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost in the earth. We are authorized by legal authority to destroy the demonic strongholds in people and over geographical regions. It is my inclination that when an evil spirit power is destroyed over a geographical region, God replaces the principality or power with a son of God.

a. “And He (Jesus) called to Him the twelve and began to send them forth two by two; AND GAVE THEM POWER OVER UNCLEAN SPIRITS”, (Mark 6:7).

b. “And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice saying, ‘Let us alone. What have we to do with you, Jesus of Nazareth? ARE YOU COME TO DESTROY US? I know You and who You are; the Holy One of God.’ And Jesus rebuked him saying, ‘Hold your peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown the man around the room he came out, AND HURT HIM NOT”, (Luke 4:33-35).

c. “And in the same hour He (Jesus) cured many of their infirmities and plagues, AND OF EVIL SPIRITS…”, (Luke 7:21).

d. “And it came to pass afterward that He went throughout every city and village PROCLAIMING AND SHOWING THE GLAD TIDINGS OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD: and the twelve were with Him. And certain women, WHICH HAD BEEN HEALED OF EVIL SPIRITS and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, OUT OF WHOM WENT SEVEN DEVILS”, (Luke 8:1-2).

e. “And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: so that from his body were brought to the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, AND THE EVIL SPIRITS WENT OUT OF THEM”, (Acts 19:11-12).

Summing It All Up

If you believe in Jesus, by the miracle of the new birth the Father has DECLARED YOU LEGALLY as having the privilege to conduct yourself as a son or daughter of His upon the earth. It is imperative that we believe in the power of this relationship with Him just as Abraham believed in the power of his relationship with God in being His friend. It is equally imperative we take full stock of Who it is we have come to be the children of – THE SUPREME GOD OF ALL THINGS, WHO IS HIGHER THAN THE HEAVENS AND THE HEAVEN OF HEAVENS. We must fully believe in Who it is we have come to know as our Father and in His unfailing love toward us to perform every thing He has ever promised us. IT’S NEVER ABOUT THE SIZE OF THE CHALLENGE, BUT IT’S ALL ABOUT: a). THE SIZE OF YOUR GOD AND, b). WHAT YOU BELIEVE REGARDING HIS FAVOR TOWARD YOU. We must be about our Father business and this business has been entirely put into the hands of His only begotten Son and our Lord, Jesus Christ. ALL OF THE POWER IN HEAVEN AND IN EARTH FLOWS THROUGH JESUS AND WE ARE AUTHORIZED TO CONDUCT THE FAMILY BUSINESS HERE ON EARTH. WE COME AS THE VERY REPRESENTATIVES OF JESUS IN CONDUCTING THIS BUSINESS. HE HAS GIVEN US HIS NAME.

Furthermore, we are fully authorized as sons to receive the FULLNESS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT and fully participate with this NEW SPIRIT as He transforms us, and everything surrounding us. The Holy Spirit is the means by which Jesus conducted the Father’s business here on earth and He is our means as well. Surrender to the influence of the Holy Spirit changes everything and every circumstance.

We are authorized by Christ to go about doing good, wherever we see that good needs to be miraculously provided. This might be healing people’s grief, their sorrows, their troubles, their bodies and anything that does not reflect things as they would be as if we were in heaven right now, today. This is because the proclamation of the gospel says, “The kingdom of God is at hand, right here and right now.” Jesus promises to back that proclamation with the resources of heaven to bear witness to its truth. As sons of God under the ledership of Jesus we are the mediators between heaven and earth right now. This is what the Book of Acts is all about. It simply describes the beginning works of the sons of God in the earth.

Finally, we are legally authorized by the Fathers decree of our son-ship to confront the darkness wherever we see it. We have the power to bring down powers of evil and bring into any setting that NEW AND HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD who brings in love, peace, joy, faith, comfort, healing, abundance, confidence and the fullness of all that is of God to replace it.

Closing Stories

I’ll finish with a story, which is one of many. Years ago I was driving past a strip club and sensed in my spirit there was a severe demonic oppression on the people involved and working there. The Holy Spirit spoke to me and told me to rebuke and call for the curse of God to be on the spirit of the place and do it in the authority of Jesus Christ and to bring God’s salvation to the people there but judgment to the spirit enslaving them. I did this with the instructions I was given.

Two months later I was back in that area. They were out of business. I don’t know who came to Jesus, but I’m assuming people did. Today even the place where the building was located is gone. I mean it’s gone as in taken away. Where it sat is now a 30 foot drop to the Costco parking lot down below. Coincidence you say? Not when the Holy Spirit has given the command. I just never realized how far He would go in fulfilling His judgment on evil.

Recently a friend of mine was working on a construction project and invited me to work with him. The project had come to a standstill because of one of the subcontractors not fulfilling their responsibilities. The project was under a six week delay because of this and it seemed hopeless.

In prayer the Holy Spirit showed me there was an evil involved in what was going on. That day on the job site we prayed and asked the Holy Spirit to shine His brilliant light on the situation and to bring judgment on the evil that was involved. Within days, the whole job took on a new Spirit.

We found out that the contractors had stolen some very expensive parts from a distributor. Not only were they involved, but as the Holy Spirit light turned on and began exposing the evil, the distributor realized that it went deeper than just this contractor and apparently they had a severe theft problem among employees. Coincidence? Not when the Holy Spirit is leading the prayers.

“And when He (the Holy Spirit) is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on Me; Of righteousness because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; Of judgment, BECAUSE THE PRINCE OF THIS WORLD IS JUDGED”, (John 16:8-11).

"As many as received Him (Jesus) to them gave He the power to become the sons of God", (John 1:12).

Believe it, because it's true. But make sure to act out under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. Otherwise, you might just blow yourself up. That would be unfortunate.

But be annointed and pray to the Father to fill you with the Holy Spirit to the fullest possible measure, and start looking for all the ways you can do good while you bring the power of God to the lives of others, and then under the leadership of the Holy Spirit go to war against the powers of darkness where you see it.
